When .Asia first launched, many of the registrations came from US and European entities. This reflected the demographics of the general global awareness of domain value. With our mission and vision in mind, starting from early 2009, DotAsia put together a number of “Home Market Growth” (HMG) promotion programs to develop the market for .Asia domains in Asia, including the Greater China Region (February 2009), Korea and Japan (September 2009) and India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangledesh (May 2011).

As a result of the HMG programs, since 2010, we have seen a change in the spread of new .Asia registrations. In 2010 and 2011, 7 out of the top 10 economies where new .Asia registrations are coming from is from the Asia Pacific region.
