DotAsia Social Impact Assessment (SIA) Framework

The DotAsia SIA Framework is developed based around the DotAsia Vision and Mission, which is operationalized in the DotAsia Core Values & Core Competence Framework (BCC-001).  Starting in 2019 through 2020, the DotAsia team working with the Board Community Project Committee (BCC) reviewed the core community projects and contributions, and studied different Social Impact Assessment (SIA) methodologies, including particularly the Actionable Impact Management (AIM) approach developed in collaboration with the University of Melbourne’s Asia Pacific Social Impact Centre, Social Return on Investment (SROI) approaches, and the Hong Kong Council of Social Services (HKCSS) SIA Framework.

Between January and April of 2020, with the generous support from experts on the subject matter at HKCSS, the DotAsia team combined a few important components from different models into a customized DotAsia SIA Framework, featuring a Duo-Goal approach placing emphasis on both community contribution and the development of the .Asia gTLD; adopting the S.M.A.R.T. model (Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-based) in defining the Theory of Change (ToC), and incorporating into the output measurements the HKCSS SIA 5 dimension framework (1. Individual; 2. Social; 3. Community; 4. Organizational; and, 5. Economics), plus an extra dimension on supporting the .Asia Registry.

Thereupon, since 2020, the DotAsia Team has been collecting data and conducting self-assessment to produce annual reports on different community projects and outputs.  Since 2021, comparison data to the previous year(s) are included to the main report and an additional highlight report is produced summarizing changes and key takeaways.
